Yes, it’s that time of year again, when we gather with our families and loved ones to celebrate year-end holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. Unfortunately, these celebrated events often bring family drama and issues along with them – so what can you do?

Suicide Prevention – What To Look For

Suicide is an issue which knows no boundaries; it is not a solution but a grenade, a weapon of mass destruction. KATV hosted a town hall on suicide prevention on September 27th, and Dr. Elizabeth was honored to serve on the panel to discuss this difficult but important topic.

If you are an active member of the military, contact mental health on the base and ask for the MFLC number (Military Family Life Counselors). This is an excellent service which is provided by the military and is confidential. If you are a veteran, contact the VA for assistance.

Mornings can be a very stressful time; here are 10 tips to help make your mornings a little less stressful:

  • Get enough sleep, resist the urge to stay up late
  • Wake up 15 minutes earlier
  • Resist the urge to immediately check your phone
  • Prepare things the night before
  • Get dressed and ready first
  • Have quick and easy options available for breakfast
  • Play some soothing music
  • Put things in their place consistently (like your keys!)
  • Keep a to do list for each day
  • Take some deep breaths and relax if you start to feel stressed
